Parish Pastoral Council:
In every parish of the diocese, a Pastoral Council (PPC) shall be established (Canon 536 #1). The pastor presides over the council, which is composed of members of the congregation of the parish. The PPC assists in promoting pastoral action in the parish. Council members are called upon to use their gifts in planning and coordinating the life of the parish. They represent the “whole” parish.
The purpose is to assist the pastor in his leadership role of planning, organizing, initiating, promoting, coordinating and reviewing the evangelization, worship, religious education and service activities in the parish.
The objective is to access adequately the needs of the whole parish and its members, and to develop and implement a pastoral plan which will promote the common good of the parish. The PPC foster unity and a sense of community in the parish and coordinate all parish activities in a manner that will best serve the interests of the whole parish.
